Sweet Rumble 2011 cancelled due to extraordinary warm weather

The locals here in Trysil have more than a hundred words for snow, but only one word for no snow: Horrible. The local resort, Skistar Trysil, is armed with the most advanced snow machinery money can buy. We are always blessed with cold weather, but, so far, not this year. 

Faced with extraordinarily warm weather, we have no other option but to cancel this year Sweet Rumble. 

 Everyone that's been at our office in Trysil, knows the scenic view we've got. The Trysil Mountain is right there in our backyard, and for the last couple of weeks we have been looking up on the mountain a lot. At first, anxiously, then with a growing sense of despair, we asked our selves "Where is the snow? When is it going to be cold?"

We had everything going for another great edition of the Sweet Rumble. Several of the worlds top snowboarders and skiers are confirmed. 

- Our goal is to make Sweet Rumble a better event every year, and last years event was one for the history books. We have experienced great interest for this year’s event from both athletes and the whole community. The Sweet Rumble is about everyone traveling to Trysil having a great time, says Ola Keul, Marketing Manager at Sweet Protection.  
- Unfortunately the extraordinarily warm weather force us to cancel this year, but we are definitely coming back strong next year!

 Head of operations at the Trysil Mountain Resort, Jan Lindstad, can't do anything but accept that the winter arrives late this year: 
- The weather forecast calls for colder temperatures, but not cold enough for us to produce enough snow for the Sweet Rumble. 

At Sweet Protection we would like to say thank you to all the athletes for the great support, and for understanding that we have no other option but to cancel. We would also like to thank GORE-TEX®, a partner since the first edition of Sweet Rumble in 2004, and to the dedicated crew at Skistar Trysil.

Sweet Rumble 2011 avlyses på grunn av ekstraordinært mildvær

 Sweet Rumble 2011 må desverre avlyses. Langtidsvarselet viser at det gradvis skal bli kaldere, men ikke kaldt nok. Været får en ikke gjort noe med som det heter, og det tar vi i samråd med Skistar Trysil konsekvensen av. 

 Flere av verdens beste kjørere var bekreftet og alt lå til rette for nok et rått Sweet Rumble i Trysil, men med sterk migrene og uryddig hår har vi de siste ukene sett meldinger som hører en annen årstid til: Grillsesongen er enda ikke over. Hestehoven blomstrer på ny. Salget av utepils går fortsatt strålende. 

Vi har også tittet ut av vinduet her i Trysil. På samme tid i fjor var det minus 25 og snø, nå ser vi lyng, høstbrune trør og tørr asfalt. Ikke ett alpinsenter på hele den nordlige halvkule har så langt åpnet. 

 - Vårt mål er å gjøre Sweet Rumble bedre og bedre hvert år. Fjorårets Rumblefinale var en for historiebøkene, og alle vil tilbake i år. Til tross for skarpladde snøkanoner hos Skistar Trysil er det rett og slett ikke kaldt nok. Følgelig må vi dessverre avlyse, sier Ola Keul, markedssjef i Sweet Protection.

- Med Sweet Rumble skal vi gi kjørere og publikum en fet opplevelse. Årets ekstraordinære varme vær setter en stopper for det - men vi kommer sterkt tilbake!

 Driftssjef Jan Lindstad hos Skistar Trysil kan ikke annet enn å konstantere at været så langt er en utfordring: 

- Det er meldt litt kaldere fremover, men dessverre ikke kaldt nok til at vi kan få produsert nok snø til å arrangere Sweet Rumble.

 Takk til alle kjørerne som har vist stor forståelse for at vi må avlyse. Takk også til vår hovedpartner GORE-TEX®, som har gjort Rumble mulig siden starten i  2004, og til vår dedikerte destinasjonspartner Skistar Trysil.

Today, the Sweet Rumble kicked off with qualifications. The Rumble riders put on a mellow, but yet amazing show. The top 16 skilled riders moved on to the semi finals tomorrow. The finals start at 1800. See you all there!

Remember, tomorrow is qualification day. It all starts at 16.00.
The amazing early season park, made by the dedicated shaper crew at Trysil resort, will be open all day (the Rumble jump will be closed before the qualifications). 

Finals are ON saturday at 17.30. Party is ON in the lavvo at 23.00.

Weather forecast for Thursday says sunny and no wind. See you all on the mountain tomorrow, but first its yoga session with Terje Håkonsen and crew at 7 am. 

Qualifications are on Friday. The finals are on Saturday at 17.30.

X Games 2010 big air winners confirmed
Skiers like TJ Schiller, Jon Olsson and X Games winner Bobby Brown, snowboarders Gjermund Bråthen (TTR #1), Ståle Sandbech and X Games winner Halldor Helgason, to name a few, are all heading to Trysil, Norway for the Sweet Rumble, kicking off with qualifications Friday 26^th of November. When the finals are on Saturday 27^th of November at 5.30 pm, the athletes will fight head to head over a total of USD 15 000 and the Sweet Rumble heavy weight belt. 

The Sweet Camp
Introducing the Sweet Camp; along with Skistar Trysil, we present our brand new camp concept, 23^rd to 27^th November.
For all parkshredders in Trysil, both rookies and pros, Sweet Protection and Skistar Trysil offers several camp activities. Everyones welcome to use the special camp offers on accomodation and lift tickets:

Since the winter of 2004 top international riders have gathered in Trysil for Sweet Rumble, Sweet Protections own snowboard and ski big air competition extravaganza. 

You have just arrived at the Sweet Rumble website where you will find all the info you need about this years event. 

Key facts:
Qualifications starts Friday November 26th. The Finals are ON Saturday 27th.

It all happens at Trysilfjellet, slope 22, in the Park.

32 snowboarders and 32 skiers, head to head format in the finals. Total cash prize USD 15 000; Winners takes it all.
