How to take proper care of your Sweet Protection helmet:

A helmet from Sweet Protection.

Before every time you use your helmet, make sure nothing is badly torn, worn or missing.

Replacement: Your helmet is made to absorb some of the potential energy of a blow. Even though damage may not be visible or apparent, it is infinitely important that any helmet having suffered from a major impact in an accident, or has received a similarly severe blow, should be replaced. An inspection of the helmet might not reveal any apparent damage, but it might be there. Sweet Protection also advise that any helmet should be replaced after approximately three years of normal use, or even sooner if exposed to long periods of sun, hard use, or any contact with chemicals. The helmet must also be replaced if it does not fit anymore.

For cleaning, use clean water (max temperature 30°C) and mild soap only. Dry naturally and not in contact with direct heat or on hot surfaces.

Avoid any applications of paint, adhesive stickers/transfers, cleaning fluids, chemicals and other solvents that may drastically reduce the protection given by this helmet.

The helmet will be damaged if exposed to temperatures exceeding 62°C (ca. 150°F). Please note that leaving the helmet in the window of your car (or similar) on a warm and sunny day, it may easily exceed this temperature. If exposed to such temperatures, the helmet must be immediately discarded and replaced.

The helmet will not perform as intended if you modify or replace any of the original elements included in the helmet. Please note that any customizing is not recommended, and that this will cancel the warranty. Sweet Protection or our distributors will not accept any responsibility for damage, injuries resulting from misuse or from a modified helmet.

For carrying the helmet, use the package supplied by Sweet Protection. After the use, the helmet must be stored unpacked in a cool, dry, dark place away from heat sources, frost, high humidity, corrosive substances or other possible causes of damage. During transportation avoid that any sharp object damages it by falling from above. After buying the helmet keep the packaging, it will be used for carrying it or in presence of some defects for the warranty validity at the shop where you bought it.

Accessories and spare parts: Accessories and/or replacement parts are available in the Sweet Protection’s catalogue. Use only original accessories supplied by Sweet Protection.

GORE-TEX CARE

Not only are GORE-TEX® products built to last, they are easy to care for. Routine care will ensure excellent performance and extend their useful life. You'll find the care instruction inside the tag on your Sweet Protection product.

In general; the following routine should be followed: Before laundering your garment, zip the front closure, pockets and pit zips completely, and fasten all flaps and straps. Be sure to follow the garment manufacturer’s instructions to ensure high performance.

HOW TO WASH AND DRY:

Machine wash on a warm permanent-press cycle (105º F/40º C) using a small amount of liquid detergent. Rinse twice, minimize spinning to reduce creasing. Do not use powder detergents or any products that contain fabric softeners, conditioners, stain removers or bleach as they will affect garment performance. Do not wash with heavily soiled clothing.

Do not use chlorine bleach.

Line dry your garment, or tumble dry it on a warm, gentle cycle. Once it is dry, tumble dry your garment for 20 minutes to reactivate the durable water-repellent (DWR) treatment on the outer fabric.

If unable to tumble dry, iron the dry garment on gentle setting (warm, no steam) by placing a towel or cloth between the garment and the iron. This will help reactivate the DWR treatment on your garment’s outer fabric.

Dry Clean:

Gore recommends home laundering. If professional dry cleaning is necessary, request that the cleaner use clear distilled hydrocarbon solvent for rinsing and then spray DWR on the garment’s outer fabric before drying.

Water Repellent Treatment:

When the factory applied treatment can no longer be reactivated, apply a new water-repellent treatment (available at local outdoor retailers) to the garment’s outer fabric.

A jacket from Sweet Protection. | DOWN CARE

DOWN CARE

A down jacket deserves a good wash every now and then and giving it a round in the tumble dryer gives it more puffiness and increased warming capabilities. Check the instruction inside your Sweet Protection garment.

HOW TO WASH AND DRY:

Brush off any loose mud or dirt and do up any zips.

Machine wash the product with a gentle cycle at 105º F/40º C. Use a gentle soap. Rinse twice. Do not use bleach. Do not use fabric softener and do not dry clean.

Tumble dry on low heat with two tennis balls (or special drying balls). The balls will help to agitate the down fill and feathers allowing the loft to return to maximum warmth.

When the season is over please store the down jacket in a down bag or store it by hanging. By doing so your Sweet down jacket remains its puffiness and is ready for the next cold day!

A MERINO WOOL CARE.

MERINO WOOL CARE

With proper care, your woolen garments can last for decades. And luckily, when it comes to wool, nature does most of the work for you; wool is a remarkable natural product that is extremely adept at keeping itself clean. Because wool naturally resists bacteria, it is both antimicrobial and antibacterial.

Meaning you don't need to wash them as often as your cotton or synthetic garments. Just airing them, goes a long way - particularly in humid weather. The moist air picks up and carries dirt and bad odors with it as it passes through the garment.

How to wash:

Avoid using or washing together with other clothes that have zippers or Velcro, as they can easily rip the threads in wool knits.

Always follow the washing instructions on the care label attached to the garment.

Use detergent specifically designed for wool to make the fibers last longer.

Hand wash or use the «wool wash» - program which is applicable on most washing machines.

Small spots should be cleaned with a brush directly on the affected area, then rinse it through with clean cold water.

Avoid washing your wool clothing too often. Airing them after use is enough to keep the wool fresh.

How to dry:

Do not tumble-dry! It’s a myth that high temp is the culprit of shrunken or damaged wool garment. In fact, it is the agitation that causes the wool fibers to felt together and shrink.

Lay flat to dry, to maintain the garments shape - especially when it comes to thicker wool garments such as knitted sweaters. Wet wool will stretch if you hang them.

Once dry you are ready for another great day in the mountains!

DRY SUIT & DRY TOPS CARE.

DRY SUIT & DRY TOPS CARE

How to dry:

In general, always follow the instructions given on the care label on your product.

Before washing, make sure to completely close all main zippers, pockets and pit zips - and fasten all flaps and straps.

For our “DRY products”, we recommend using cold or lukewarm water, delicate cycle, gentle liquid soap with no bleach or harsh chemicals and a high-water volume. Make sure to rinse well - we normally advise to rinse twice at low spinning speed. Line dry or tumble dry on a low warm setting for 10-15 minutes. The tumble dry process will also reactivate the durable water-repellent (DWR) treatment on the outer fabric.

Care:

Dry- suits and tops should be stored in a clean, dry environment. Store either hanging or loosely rolled. Suits should be stored with the zipper closed.

Zippers: The zipper is the most vulnerable part to become damaged when getting in and out of your DRY garment. Treat it carefully! Make sure the zipper is completely open, and when closing it, pull the zipper in a straight line, and in a smooth motion. Be especially gentle in cold air and/or water temperatures.

Keep sand and dirt out of the zipper teeth and the closing end of the zipper. Clean the zipper occasionally with mild soap, water and a toothbrush. Lubricate occasionally with the provided lubricant (Only supplied with the Intergalactic Suit). If you wish to purchase a Zip Care product, we suggest Zip Care from McNett or Gear Aid. Broken zippers cannot be repaired, but they can be replaced. Please contact Customer Service to obtain a Return Authorization Number (RA #) and/or to get further information.

Gaskets: Latex gaskets must be treated every 4–6 weeks to prevent drying out and/or cracking. We recommend using a 303 Protectant, or a similar product. Small tears or holes in the gasket may be repaired with Aquaseal. Replacement gaskets and kits are normally available from your local dealer.

Durable Water-Repellent (DWR)

DWR treatment to wear out over time. When the factory applied treatment can no longer be reactivated, apply a new water-repellent treatment (available from your local retailer) to the garment’s outer fabric. We normally advice to use spray-on treatment after washing and allowing the garment to drip-dry. After spraying the treatment, only on the outside of the garment, tumble dry on a low warm setting for 10-15 minutes. Tumble drying will help reactivate the DWR treatment on your garment’s outer fabric

How to care for your Sweet Protection Eyewear

IMPORTANT GOGGLE LENS INFORMATION:

OUTER LENS: The outer lens is treated with a super oleophobic and a hydrophobic coating to help clear visibility and to make sure the goggles are easy to clean and maintain. To help preserve the optical quality of Sweet Protection outer lenses, your new eyewear comes with a woven, microfiber cloth bag specially designed for cleaning and storage. Hand wash and air dry the microfiber bag regularly.

ANTI-FOG INNER LENSES: To avoid fogging of the goggles, each inner lens is embedded with a premium anti-fog treatment. Do not touch or rub the inner lens, as you will deteriorate/ damage the anti-fog treatment. To clean the anti-fog inner lens, gently touch the inner lens surface with a clean micro fiber cloth/goggle bag to absorb excess moisture. Do not use the Sweet Protection lens cleaning kit or any other cleaning agent on the inner lens.

CLEANING, CARE AND MAINTENANCE:

If snow or water should collect inside the goggle, follow these steps:

Shake excess snow from the goggle interior. Clear all ventilation ports and lens vents. Use the goggle bag that is included with your goggle to gently blot any remaining moisture.

Allow time for moisture to dissipate. Once the goggle is put back on, keep moving as much as possible. Airflow through the vents will help dry the goggle.

Guidelines to maximize performance and longevity:

Avoid resting the goggle on your forehead, hat or helmet. This reduces the efficiency of ventilation ports and exposes the interior to moisture vapor from melting snow, perspiration and body oils. To minimize fogging, always keep your goggles on your face.

For proper cleaning and storage, remember the following:

Do not use paper products, ski gloves or other abrasive materials to clean the goggle. - Allow the goggle to air dry before storing for extended periods.

Do not leave the goggle in areas of concentrated heat and sunlight, such as on a car dashboard or hanging from a rearview mirror.

Protect the lens and face foam by storing the goggle in its protective bag. The best way of storing your google is in the Sweet Protection goggle case which is sold separately. Please visit your local authorized Sweet Protection dealer or visit: www.sweetprotection.com to purchase this item.

LENS CLEANING KIT: Sweet Protection lens cleaning kit are specifically formulated and approved to use on Sweet Protection outer lenses. Otherwise, use only mild soap and water to clean your product. Dry after rinsing by gently blotting with the microfiber goggle bag provided.
