How To Take Care Of Your Merino Wool Product
In order for you to enjoy the Sweet Protection Wool Garment fully, please take some time to carefully read how you should take care of it.
With proper care, your woolen garments can last for decades. And luckily, when it comes to wool, nature does most of the work for you, wool is a remarkable natural product that is extremely adept at keeping itself clean.
Because wool naturally resists bacteria, it is both antimicrobial and antibacterial. Meaning you don't need to wash them as often as your cotton or synthetic garments. Just airing them, goes a long way - particularly in humid weather. The moist air picks up and carries dirt and bad odors with it as it passes through the garment.
HOW TO WASH:
Avoid using or washing together with other clothes that have zippers or Velcro, as they can easily rip the threads in wool knits.
Always follow the washing instructions on the care label attached to the garment.
Use detergent specifically designed for wool to make the fibers last longer.
Hand wash or use the «wool wash» - program which is applicable on most washing machines.
Small spots should be cleaned with a brush directly on the affected area, then rinse it through with clean cold water.
Avoid washing your wool clothing too often. Airing them after use is enough to keep the wool fresh.
HOW TO DRY:
Do not tumble-dry! It’s a myth that high temp is the culprit of shrunken or damaged wool garment. In fact it is the agitation that causes the wool fibers to felt together and shrink.
Lay flat to dry, to maintain the garments shape - especially when it comes to thicker wool garments such as knitted sweaters. Wet wool will stretch if you hang them.
Once dry you are ready for another great day in the mountains!
We want to reassure you that Kari Traa does have a sustainable focus, and has a goal of litter minimum and protecting the environment throughout our supply chain.
When we choose packaging for our products we have three criteria to take into consideration. Environment, functionality and design. The packaging should be as environmentally friendly as possible in relation to production and recycling, it must work in relation to suspension at the store and it must be possible to open / close repeatedly by the consumer.
We opted for plastic packaging of our wool and thermal underwear. The plastic can be recycled, it is chemically produced, and thus relatively energy efficient. Our packaging can therefore be recyclable and is further used in the production of such clothes / fleece, shopping bags and more. On some products, we have chosen to use wrapping paper to get the functionality and protection we want around the product. The construction on all our packaging is such that the various parts can be easily disassembled to facilitate recycling.
It is however not certain that we will continue with this packaging, as we take feed-back from our customers very seriously. We hope for our customer's understanding that the development of new packaging is a long process, and that the current packaging nonetheless will be in production for some time to come.
