With X amount of X-games medals Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen is one of Norway´s most successful skiers. She has been an important player on the freeski scene, and part of the Norwegian National Team for 10 years. Now the time has come for her to broaden her perspective on skis - and that is exactly what she intends to do.
The plan for this season is to have as much fun as possible with skis on my feet. I really want to explore more of what skiing has to offer, as I´ve been a park rat for the past 10 years, I now feel like there’s a whole other world for me to experience. Ski new places, go ski-touring a lot more, explore mointains and places I´ve never been, get better at snow kiting and just follow the weather – ski where it dumps.
Ski with people who know what they are doing, that are just a little bit better than you. That way you are constantly exposed to some new ways of doing in and little by little improving your own skiing as well. You should take a small step outside of your comfort zone every time you ski, but of course listen to your body and intuition as well. Nobody knows you better than you know yourself. And remember that the motivation for improvement has to come from yourself. It doesn’t help even if everybody else wants you to succeed unless you want it yourself.
So many! Depends on what kind of skis I have on my feet. Jotunheimen right now for ski touring, Hardangervidda for kiting, and for powder skiing, there’s not beating Verbier.
